Didn't we buy a new young guy like Lanzini?
Meant to be creative etc.. Why not throw him in there?

Without holding on to the ball in midfield we are stuffed. Especially against Huddersfield who dont seem to shabby at that game.

If feel like Bilic needs to gamble now because we cant do the same things and expect different results.

Also, if we do go with 3 at the bar my fear is that the full backs will be caught out bombing down the flanks because our midfield cant distribute/hold the ball in the opponents half. Which will leave our CB's defending 4 on 3.

Either he puts the new kid in or he goes route one with caroll and looks for hernandez to get the second ball.

Or maybe I'm just muttering on because I have no idea what we are even trying to do as a team anymore..

Re: Side v Huddersfield
I forgot Ogbonna, based on what has been confirmed with Carroll, Reid, 5 at the back and with the players confirmed out I reckon this will be how he lines up:

-----------------------------Hart--------------------------------
--Antonio--Zabaleta--Reid--Ogbonna--Cresswell--
--------------------Kouyate--Noble------------------------
----------------------------Ayew------------------------------
---------------------Carroll--Hernandez-----------------

Noble and Ayew should be on the bench however.

Slav will go with 2 upfront and an attacking team.

we will be horribly exposed in the middle of the park. it wont be pretty but it'll be the end of him.

everyone saying we have to play 2 upfront will eating their words at 10pm.

Re: Side v Huddersfield
Apparently Reid and Carroll are both starting and he is going with a 5 at the back.

Lanzini (injured), Fernandes (injured), Arnautovic (suspended) all confirmed out.

Based on what has been confirmed so far my guesses are this will be his line up:

----------------------------Hart--------------------------------
--Antonio--Zabaleta--Reid--Collins--Cresswell--
--------------------Kouyate--Noble------------------------
----------------------------Ayew------------------------------
---------------------Carroll--Hernandez-----------------

Even though Ayew and Noble should both be on the bench you just know he will start both.

Unfortunately, he is right about one thing, Bilic will start with Noble. I am not confident, which considering it's Huddersfield at home shows how far we have come since the move

Re: Side v Huddersfield
If the idiot Croat loses tonight, we will be 10 points behind Huddersfield, six points behind Newcastle and four behind Brighton. The three promoted teams most people regard as favourites for the drop.
To follow that, the Baggies away, then the north London scum looking to avenge last season's defeat.

Don't worry though. The club is being led by three marvellous people at the top,and a manager with inspirational qualities.

Re: Side v Huddersfield
Bilic will play Noble because he is a local boy, knows what it means to be West Ham more than anyone, is our team captain, a leader, its at times of adversity like these that these type of characters are needed in the team to knuckle down, lead by example, lift the spirit of the team and breed confidence.

-----------Zabaleta Reid Kouyate----------
Antonio-------------------------------Creswell
-----------Obiang---------------Rice--------------
--------------------------Noble-----------------------
--------------Sakho---------Hernandez--------

Or Collins for Kouyate with Cheikhou in CM or Carroll for Sakho. Either I'm happy with.

Without Lanzini we are incredibly flat in centre midfield so Andy up top may provide us with a better method of attack to depend on, as that midfield isn't likely to create much.
As desperate as it sounds, without Me BlameItAllOn in there, we really don't have a ball player.

Miike - not the Clough clip you're referring to but this one makes me chuckle;

The bit from about 2:15 is brilliant; 'we've got a little fat guy who will turn him inside out'.

Wouldn't surprise me if Bilic bottles it and goes with the highly negative 3 CBs tomorrow. Cat food walking.

Re: Side v Huddersfield
Alf, it's a very simple game. not sure I'd I'd able to find the clip but i remember watching Clough once talking about his less talented players and him saying something like, "All I want them to do is get the ball as quickly as possible to Robertson & Gemmill". it was funny the way he worded it but it's true. I'm not a big fan of Busqets but he's done that role perfectly for Barca, thought it does help having legends like Xavi & Iniesta in front of him :.)

Re: Side v Huddersfield
True Mike, we need that and more movement up top too at times but the fact that Bilic has played Ayew, Noble in all games and Fernandes in 2 and thrown young Rice into a position he has not played in for a while, suggests he is more concerned with finding a formation ( 4-2-3-1 I think is what he wants to play) that allows him to play all the senior and new experienced players (e..g. Ayew, Zab, Noble, ) rather than getting the best system in place for opposition we face and accepting he will not always be able to play the senior and best payed players in the same team at the same time? Our midfield and team generally has been anything but "press resistant". It will become apparent again tomorrow night if he gets the selections and formation and tactics wrong because that is Huddersfield's game.

SOunds like he has lurched back to 3-5-2 which is something he should have stuck with from last season but will he bench Ayew and Noble?

Takashi Miike 11:40 Sun Sep 10
Re: Side v Huddersfield
we could play that pressing system perfectly well with Kouyate & Pedro but the problem still remains that apart from Lanzini, we have very few players in advanced positions who can hold on to the ball
